Statement of Faith

God’s Word

The bible scriptures are the inspired Word of God, and thus they are completely reliable and truthful (2 Peter 1:19- 21). Scripture is the grounding authority over our lives, and a key cornerstone for the direction of our ministry.

The Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit)

There is only one God with three distinct persons. (John 14:10, 26) The Bible calls these persons the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ, the Son, is fully God and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died for the sins of mankind, and his body was resurrected on the third day. Jesus then went back to heaven and is coming again as Judge and King. Only through belief and faith in Jesus Christ can anyone be in a peaceful relationship with God. (John 14:6). Jesus only said and did what His Father revealed and therefore Jesus’ life is to be imitated by all Christians today.

The Holy Spirit is God. He leads us to Christ, and lives inside us when we place our faith in Christ. He gives us the power to live the life modelled by Jesus. The Holy Spirit helps us understand our identity, and encourages and strengthens us to live a life that pleases God and accomplishes His will for our life. (John 14:16-17)

People

All people are created in the image of God and therefore we are unique in God’s creation. However, people have rebelled against God and disobeyed His commands which is called sin. The result of sin is spiritual death and eternal separation from God even though God still loves us. Without reconciliation, all people are under God’s judgement due to their sin. Although separated relationally from God, people still have dignity and value being made in His image. Believers in Jesus are born again, meaning they now have a new nature inside them, and are saved from the consequences of sin. This is the start of an ongoing life change that gradually transforms believers to be more like Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

What is Salvation?

Salvation is right standing with God only through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross. God offers all people salvation by His grace alone and we can only receive it as a gift through personal faith in Jesus Christ. No one can earn their salvation by good behavior or by what they do. Once saved, we are eternally secure and can never lose our place in God’s family. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 8:38-39)

Marriage

Marriage is between one man and one woman. Anything outside of this is a willful act of rebellion against God and how he has instructed His people to live. (Genesis 2:20-24; Romans 1:26-27)

The Church

Church, as defined in the bible, is composed of everyone throughout history who has placed saving faith in Jesus Christ. The Church is not a building, institution, or organization but the unified people of God. There is only one church and God desires for all of His sons and daughters to be unified as a spiritual family. The Church is God’s chosen vessel through which flows the salvation message spreading to all people. This mission is the core purpose of the Church. All believers are commanded to share the good news where they live and across the world. Additionally, we are to make disciples (followers of Jesus), as we live our life. The church also demonstrates the love of Jesus by exercising human compassion which is seen by our words and deeds. (Matthew 28:18-20, John 13:34-35; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14)

Christ’s Second Coming

Because eternal life is at stake for all people, there is a real urgency to sharing the gospel. Christ will personally return at the end of this current age and at that time, He will reestablish God’s just and righteous rule over all humanity. There will be a bodily resurrection of all people. Those that are saved through Jesus Christ will spend eternity with God in heaven. Those that do not have salvation, will spend eternity tormented and separated from God. (2 Thessalonians 1:5-10, Matthew 25:46)
